How Can Acupuncture Help Me Quit?

Both the NIH and WHO (World Health Organization) acknowledge that acupuncture lessens the symptoms of withdrawal, thus curbing many addictions—smoking among them.   It does this by releasing Beta-endorphin, a natural hormone that reduces sensitivity to pain. Unfortunately, acupuncture alone falls short on a long-term basis because it fails to address the emotional aspect of smoking.  For that we include hypnosis as part of the treatment.

How Does Hypnosis Help Me to Quit Smoking?

What Happens When I Go In To See You?

In the first session, we discuss your past success/failure in stopping smoking. I explain fully how hypnosis works, we do a pre-session ‘exercise’ and I relax you then show you the power of your own mind.  We ascertain whether you are a candidate for hypnosis or hypnopuncture. At the actual session, we do a full treatment using hypnosis or hypnosis and acupuncture/laser  if you are comfortable with that. 

 

What Can I do Before Coming To See You?

  • Set Boundaries –Stay away from smokers until you feel confident with your nonsmoking health status.
  • Drink 6-8 glasses of water – Research shows that dryness causes cravings. Sip water frequently throughout the day.
  • Refrain or reduce your caffeine intake – Coffee dehydrates the body. If you must drink coffee, drink plenty of water as well.
  • Choose food wisely – Eat plenty of vegetables for the first week. Sugar aggravates smoking-withdrawal symptoms through elevated blood sugar levels.
